Hello, i have a Meyers e47 w/ what im pretty sure is a bad C valve, ive taken it out and cleaned it up best i could, but it wasnt anything more then spraying cleaner thru the lil holes.

I read in some of the past posts that these valves can be revived, but didnt see if they could be taken apart for a good ol fashioned cleaning. If they can be taken apart, any ideas on how to go about doing that ?

Thanks

Just replace it,not worth cleaning.

I have taken apart the c valve before. I cleaned it with mineral spirits and reassembled and it worked.

I read the meyers service manual and they say replace. I have done that also.

They can be taken apart and cleaned and bench tested, if you want buy another one but take the time to take that one apart its easy and you learn something plus you can feel good knowing you didnt throw parts at something.

I only own one Meyer set up which has a E-47 i have a new power pac on the truck now but picked up a used one for dirt rebuilt it for a spare . When you take apart the valve polish the piston it probley has a piece of dirt or a score which is making it hang up , use a battery or jump box and put your coil on and test it on the bench you can get it to work again.

If the body where the coil slides over is bulged out then you are better off replacing the valve. They can be pulled apart. Some have an internal c clip type holder, some have a locking ring ( slot in the outside of the threads, and some thread out. The problem with the bulged ones is the internal piece that the coil pulls on will wedge against the inside and cause the problem again.

Good luck on it. Tom

Thanks for the reply guys,

I ordered a new one, waiting on its arival..

Since there is some hope, i believe i will give a crack at trying to revive it. From the looks of it, it looked as if it might have been machine pressed together. I did take it out, and put the coil back on and test it on the bench. It went from a light popping sound to nothing at all... i just assumed i burnt it up, though i couldnt see what there was too burn up.

I figure if it is machine pressed.. theres prob no point in trying to tear it apart, will most likely destroy it before getting it apart.

Thanks again for the replys

The problem can be 2 different places. If the coil is burnt out or open the solenoid will not work. If the solenoid is stuck the coil wont shift it. You have an electro mechanical valve here. If you powered the coil up with no steel in it the coil will burn out in a short period of time.

The solenoid comes apart with a c clip. It should be easy to clean if that is the problem. If the solenoid has been over pressured and expanded where the coil hooks on the solenoid is trash.

BTW Meyer has a free tech line you can call and talk to an engineer in Cleveland.

This is an OEM out of a 1979 E-47. I took it apart and cleaned it for a customer, and it still didn't work. I took it apart again and cleaned it, and now it is in the pump on my test stand, and seems to be working ok. Notice it does not have a C clip, (it has a snap ring that I had to make tips to fit) and it does not have any screens on it. I do think it is worn out though. I could not get it to work the first time, but I think now it leaks by a little, so I will replace it. But I just had to try to get it to work again, after I had problems with it the first time. The pic is before I cleaned it the second time. There is some gunk on it. I don't think the guy flushed the angle rams right. He kept asking how to do it, over and over....
