Very cool!!!
What is the application? Dedicated site? I ask because while it seems capable, I would think I would need a specific sitaution to justify it. What kind of road speed? And have you any salter plans?
Inquiring minds.... More like you got my interest!!!

Yes, a dedicated site. A very large hospital. The travel speed is 18 MPH tops and as for a salter not yet. I want to have the bed sprayed with a Linex liner first. Its turning radius is awesome.

How does it handle the weight on the front when raised? Are the Tool Cats heavy enough to push the 810 in a big storm?
I have no use but would love to have one of them.

The front end hardly dives when I pick it up. As for it handling the 810 I will let you know after this winter.

I can't wait to hear some reports on its production...

Nice rig, Looks very cool.
Im interested to see how it will push as well. What is the overall weight of one of those toolcats ? Also what is there payload capacity ?

Operating weight is 5410lbs and it can carry a ton in the bed!

Sweet Rig ! Get a couple pics in action, then post your feelings after a couple storms. We want to hear about its strengths and weakness. Looks really great.:blizzard

Lookin good. You really have expanded your buisness in the past few years. Are you planning on selling your old dodge or you keeping it too?

Very nice set up. 4 wheel steer must be nice, maybe Ford will think about installing 4WS on the SD's ? LOL
can you use the 810 on other trucks? How does it mount to the ToolCat?
CraftyBigDog
12-18-2006, 01:38 AM
Its the 810 SS the Toolcat can run skidsteer attachments. As for the wiring I ran it up into the cab and mounted the joystick next to the existing one. It looks good and is clean lookins. I can mount this one on my A300 or my tractor.

Nice setup. I am very curious as to how this thing is going to push a 10 foot plow in moderate to heavy snow... Thats alot of plow for something that is so short and light..........

Sounds to me like it has plenty of weight, and if it can hold a ton in the back, that thing is going to be like a truck.

Jason,it looks great! what a sweet machine. If you add the full ton to the rear,it will weigh about what my empty 3/4 ton diesel weighs, which pushes good with an 810.

Crap, I need a bib. There goes another keyboard. :grinz
You guys are really making me jealous. And it just plain old isn't fair. :nope :wah
Seriously, it's beautiful. I really, really want one. Please let us know how it works, assuming it ever snows in the Lower 48 this season.
I don't have any pics, but there is a contractor here in GR that put one together last year with a Boss V and a 12' SwingWing back plow. I saw it once this year, but there was only about an inch of snow and he was doing fine with that.
Isn't it awesome to have helpers? I love mine.

Mark, just FYI, toolcats dont float either. I'd spend my money on an airboat if I were you! :greenange
BTW, that toolcat needs some lights! :shades2

You know, that's a great idea. I think you're on to something. A sinking skid steer smilie would be great!!! :greenange

There were 2 versions, a 56HP Kubota turbo diesel with HiFlo. The other was minus the turbo and I believe 46 HP.

That one in GR also has snow tires on it. If you are having problems pushing at all, you may want to consider snow tires!

" Nice! How did you set up the controls in the cab?
~Chuck "
The controls were set up to run on the existing control panel, it was a little more $$, but I thought it would be better than drilling a huge hole in the firewall and still have to rig the stick somewhere.

Nice set up Crafty!! Making me drool here!! I have been looking around at different set ups for the new company that we're forming here ( My brother and myself) and that definitely looks promising. As soon as you get some snow, put me on the list of people that are curious as to how it performs. I am also curious as to how it works in other applications too- besides the plow, what else are you going to be using it on?
Inquiring minds want to know!!

This might be a stupid question, but I've never seen a Blizzard on a SS before. With the controls, are you able to lift the plow independently of the boom? Or do you control lift with the boom and angle\wings with the switches? Obviously you'll have to lift the boom for stacking, but I am wondering about just regular plowing.
Awesome setup. I hope we get snow so you can use it and report back to me (us) on how it works so I can start justifying the purchase of one.

You have to lift the boom with the controls for the boom and then there is a different control for the plow. Ill try to get some pictures!

The SS plows have no lift mechanism,it's all done with the boom.

I understand the boom, but can you lift the plow without lifting the boom?
Missed your post Chris. Thanks
Course, looking at the pictures closer, I should have been able to figure that out. :headwall

No,the a-frame is mounted direct. There is no lift cylinder.
You have two ways to lift it.Raise the boom (recommended),or roll the bucket back (not recommended).Lifting the boom lifts the plow level, and you never have to worry about getting it level when you drop it.Same principle as using a pusher box.

Does the plow on that rig have oscillation, float or movement that is seperate of the float function on the machine???
By the way that is a VERY nice setup......I wish I had a reason to own one LOL!!! Those things seem like a really versatile, productive setup for plowing snow!!!

That's a great looking machine and plow. The white on white is pretty sharp.
It makes my Western look pale in comparison but at least I found some snow to push!
Took an hour to train a new operator and test out a new urethane edge. It works pretty good.
Cheers Dylan

Here is another.

Mine floats separately from the boom. A chain allows it to go up and down. It was simple to buy a cheap used plow and add it to the toolcat. Just a bit of cutting and welding.
That Blizzard does match the toolcat a whole lot better though!
