rear axle seals leaking..

does any one know what size axle nut is on a dana 70? need to get socket to remove nut and replace seals and shoes. if it aint one thing its another. oh and what oil to put in rear end is recommened? 75w140? 80w90? and what brand?

You can't get it off with a rugular socket,you need the special tool that fits inside the hub.Don't forget to pull the retainer out first.

Use a little silicone on the seating edge of the seal where it's pressed into the hub,or it may leak.Grease the seal where it rides on the axle.

I use synthetic 80W90,works well in all temps.

thanks, got both sides replaced, what a mess. its a wonder it even stopped. i topped it off with 85w140, is that going to be ok?

It should be fine.
