looking to find Suppliers of salt

Looking for deiceing distributors/suppliers in the Des Moines, IA have a heck of a time trying to find where I can buy large quantines of bagged salt or bulk salt ???

I'm from Iowa City and have the same problem. Other than Lesco in Rock Island. My have to try a local feed store.

Try your local F/S, our local F/S handles everything here. Another retailer would be Homey Cheaps (Home Depot). They wont reduce there price for multiple pallets though. I know Fred gets his from his local Ace Hardware. Oh and I purchase from a local Feed Supply as well.

Have you called any local rock quarries and/or other snow removal companies to see where they are buying they bulk stuff at? Great first call to make to share some info.

I know last year with the tailgate unit I hate to run bagged rock salt, Menards gave me a fair price on purcahses by the pallet since I'd buy 2-3 pallets at a time. Might be worth talking to them too, go straight to the contrators desk and talk to the manager himself, not one of the pe-on's.

Check with your town,county or state yard. That's what I did a few years ago when we started buying bulk. I ended up geting it from much further away than I ever would have thought and cheaper then anyone around here.

there is a place in cedar rapids that the guy I sub for gets it - delivered for less per ton than if you go pick it up. they deliver quite a way into MN so Des Moines would not be different I will get the number in the morning.
