After much thought this fall my resolution was to put my construction company on the back burner and work on developing my landscaping company to it's fullest. I plan on shifting into more of the commercial care vs residential, and I also am going to work at becoming one of the premiere snow and ice management companies in my area. I figure since winter lasts about 5 months here and we get 150-200" of snow a year that with the help of SIMA and the members of this site that I will be able to succeed in this.

On that note- a hugeTHANK YOU to everyone for their help so far- directly and indirectly!

I need to think of some. I've been lax.
Gotta think of something GOOD for this year. Something I can actually make happen.

CraftyBigDog, hang in there. I've been there - quit Thanksgiving Day '96 after more than 30 years of 2 pack a day. It aint easy and your nerves feel like they're popping. No matter how understanding your wife is, you'll get irritated at her. Just realize what it is and walk away.

What helped me most was the thought that if even "just one" meant I'd have to start over and go through it again. Everything I'd done to that point would be for nothing.

Not meaning it as preaching, just thoughts for you to use if they help.

Oh, yeah. Then I kept track of the savings. Went and bought myself a $700+ Husquavarna chain saw:D

Yep. After 3 or 4 days it gets better at a faster rate. Right now, the narcotic is acting on you. It's like at it's peak now, I'd say. Also, you're breaking old habits - like "I used to smoke a cigarette now". You'll need to form new habits and avoid those things that made you automatically reach for a cigarette. Have you thrown away the ash trays, lighters etc? Change your morning routine, eating habits etc. Clean out or change your car ash tray. Smells are powerful. Avoid old visual cues. Do things where you can't smoke or wouldn't want to. For me, one thing that made it easier was that I had bought a piece of woods and was clearing trees to build a house. Smoking around all those trees, especially pines, was dangerous so it was easier to not smoke while in the woods telling myself it would be a fire hazard. By the time we built the new house I hadn't smoked for a year. The wife was glad the house didn't smell like smoke and I had myself a real nice chain saw.
