Looking for some feedback on performance.

Jeff,
Can't vouch for their deicing sprayers but they make what is probably the best working and simplest jet-agitated hydroseeder on the market.

Jeff,
I saw theirs at SIMA in '05. I liked them real well, specially since it appears to be able to be a 2 use system- spray & hydroseeding. I would also like to hear from someone who has this system.
Looking for some feedback on performance.

Not sure what liquid you are going to spray but if it is Magic you are going to use then you will need to remove all strainers because of the viscosity of the tactifier in the product. It is not a big deal but you will need to do it no matter who's rig you buy. Did you know that Magic sells a rig? Both 230 and 525 gallon.:nodd

I didn't know that. As far as I can tell there is no mention of that on their website. That is why I was looking elsewere.

All of the dealers have the availability to order tank systems for there customers. Contact them and just let them know what you want and they can price it for you. The Honda motor on the system is a great motor and runs the pump with no problem and in fact is a bit oversize but it is better than being borderline. And it is also very quiet.

Have been looking thru stuff about pre-treating and found this, does anyone use Turbo Turf for hydro seeding and pre-treat? We still seed the old school way with marsh hay but I like the idea of getting something that will earn money for both seasons. Any feedback on this?

A hydroseeder can be used to spray some deicing/anti-icing materials like magic but you must be sure to shut the airators off.

I agree with John, We have a few clients who we sell Magic and Caliber to and they are using Turbo Turf units. We helped them calibrate the units and adjust the flow and return rates and they are getting good results . The beauty is they get good "year round use" from the investments with a little modification from season to season.
My 2 cents

Well sell spray rigs that can be placed on a skid mounts. We use it during the months for a water tank for new plantings. I also have guys that use there trailer hydroseeder for spraying piles but I don't advise to use it as a pretreating system. Too much material can be put out on the roads.

Ok, so I am off and running. Well baby steps is probably more like it. The Turbo Turf Ice Control ICS-300 spray rig arrived two days ago and I slid it in the back of the K2500 temporarily to see how it would sit and to see what I need to do to secure it to the bed and of course filled it with water and gave it a run and played with the remote control and all the nozzles. The plan right now is to fill the tank with about 175 gallons of Caliber as I know 300 on this small truck will be too much. The long range plan is to put it on the F-350 dump next winter that is going to reserve status and being replaced. It seems to handle that much pretty well although I realize that Caliber probably weights a little more than water, I can adjust down accordingly.
Now the question I have is this: For those in the know, I set the boom off the ground about 22 inches. Is this a good starting point, or is there an actual measurement that it should be??:beatsme

Depending on what nozzles you are running the 22" is a good starting point. Caliber will weigh almost 10.5 pounds per gallon. almost 25% more than water.

Wish I would've put more thought into my purchase before hand. Saw those Turbo Turf sprayers at the Symposium and would love to be able to have the ability to apply liquids and do small hydroseed jobs, especially for plow repair work in the spring.
Keep us updated on how it works Jeff.

I bought a TT 500 last week for hydroseeding and I'm hoping to convert it to a liquid setup this year if I can secure a few more accounts that'd require it. Right now I can do stock pile treatments for people with the hydroseeding setup. With the 500 gal tank I believe I can treat 62 tons? of salt.

Jeff- Try a spray pass at normal application speed. If your pattern covers without streaking, then you are good. If you overlap a little too much go lower. If it streaks, go higher. Assuming normal fan type spray heads. :D

62.5 is what you can treat with 500 gallons. Just make sure your truck will hold the additional 5250 lbs of liquid

I also use my TT600 for spraying piles. It is nice because I use it all summer for hydroseeding.
I can treat 75 tons of Salt in one shoot.

Matt, Let me know how you make out. I would like to turn my unit into a truck unit for spraying Parking lots

I'd most likely be putting it on my 12K equipment trailer if I do stock pile treating. But I have run the hydroseeder in the back of my F350 and I'm overweight by about 1200lb's or so with 4800 lb's.
I'm sending Turbo Turf an email asking if I can switch out the 500 gallon tank for a 300 gallon for the winter.

Thanks John, It isn't at the top of the list right now I am really just spraying piles. We will see what happens.
I will definately keep it in mind.

Ok, here is the new unit mounted on the K-2500. Weather reports indicate the possability of an Alberta Clipper for Sunday morning. Maybe it will see it's first run this weekend.
Jeff,, looks good! Only problem I can see is not one of being too heavy when full but being too heavy when half full. That tank will be the tail trying to wag the dog when it's partly loaded. I run a 425 gallon water tank in my pickup and I won't travel with it partly filled. It either gets topped off or emptied. If it has any slosh room it throws the truck around something fierce.

Can't find a pic of the ones I have, but they are a flat piece of plastic about 20" long, 3" wide and have 2 of those plastic rivet type connectors. You fasten 2 of them together in a sphere and fill up the tank with them. They work awesome, especially for that size truck & tank.
Looks good Jeff. I was trying to find a 250\350 to mount my sprayer in but I got suckered into a 450 instead. :grinz
Mark
I run a 525 gallon spray tank in my F-550 half full and you never even know its back there.... I think your 450 will handle it well. a one ton on the other hand will act just like Alan said.

John, I bought Matt's 450 since it has a reliable engine in it. I'm sure the 450 will handle it just fine. We've had it in a built 2500 and the Midland Special 3500, but I'm moving past the Dodge stage in my life, since I couldn't come up with a 2500 Cummins reg cab and they can't get off their asses and get the 4500\5500's out any time in the near future.
Besides, I spent a little too much money already and the 450 was the only thing my business partner was going to allow me to purchase. Plus I had to sell 2 trucks just to buy one. ;) But you can do that when you're buying quality. :grinz

I was not knocking the 450 at all.... remember... I have a 550...:D With the way Matt takes care of his equipment you would have been a fool not to have bought it...
Sorry you live in a remote land :wink ... My Dodge dealer has 2 4500's and a 5500 on the lot.... I drove it the last 2 days and am very close to ordering if he can match the price i got on the sterling.

Yeah, I had it Monday and a little into Tuesday to run around here with a bit. I did not bother to take pics of the 5500 because it was just a C&C with no upfit work done to it yet. I was shocked to see the Aisen 6 speed Auto option is 2300 bucks though.
