We all heard about the stupid EPA emission regulation for diesel which requires all engines built after Jan 1st of 2007 to runs on ultra low sulfur diesel. We know it will affect vehicles that travels on the road, but what about those off-road equipment? Does this '07 regulation also applies to tractors and construction equipment?

I think it should apply more so to construction machinery. Those things pollute way more then our trucks and bus's. What is the point coming up with these new filters in the exhaust new diesel new engines but you do not apply it to off road vehicles.

Probably won't make any difference anyways until they change the look of the skyline while travelling over the Burlington Skyway, huh Dave? :wah

Yes it applies to all diesel equipment but there are different timelines. There is an article in this months Compact Equipment magazine explaining what is going on and why.

*L* yeah.. I picked up my Friend from Hamilton Thursday to go to the USA and she took me down what they call potpourri alley. Smelled like roofing tar at the time.. You have Stelco a soy bean processing co Lakeport breweries you have Dafasco, Shell Petro Can and soon to be a Bio Diesel processing plant.

When we passed by Dafacso wow the air was thick cloudy and white you could see the air I mean smoke I mean smog. This was when it was only 41deg outside at 7am cant imagine when its 85 and high noon.

I must say the Dafasco plant lawn and property looks spectacular nice green and manicured and clean it stick out. Looks top notch. That helps filter a bit of the air.

Yeah, but you never know, with a company like that, it may be plastic because its easier to maintain :P OR, it could be 'glazed' (like varathane) from all the fall-out from the plant... :D

Personally, I always loved the giant flames coming from the smokestacks around the harbour at night... icky....

Yeah I saw that it was cool. Big amber flame glowing. Reminds me of the Olympic torch. When I went to the labor day classic Tie cat game you saw a bit of the flame and then I saw all this white smoke rising in the air while watching the game at Iver win. Seeing as the cats were getting skinned alive wasn’t much else to watch.

the place i buy my fuel from is starting with the low sulfur in there cars ( gas) and they said they're losing about a 1mile per gallon. if your in a tractor thats gonna add up fast! i dont think it's going to affect off road machinery if you run off road fuel in them like i do.
