I'm attempting to safety a '94 Cavalier 4-door but the reverse lights are not working. It has the buckets and console.
Can someone tell me where the switch is on this model? Is there anything else that fails on these? Fuse is fine...
Also, I'm already into the console, but only because it is broken in a few places and basically came apart. I want to glue all the broken plastic bits back together, but will need to be able to remove the shift knob to reassemble it after. Can anyone tell me how it comes off?
Thanks!

I neglected to mention that it is just a regular 4-popper and automatic....

On the front side of the shift knob is a metal horseshoe clip it is somewhat blended into the knob take a pocket knive and pull the clip then slide the handle off.

The reverse signal goes threw thr prindle switch in the console threw the switch on the transmisson. I assume its a 3speed 125hydro auto trans.

Ahh Fred, just who I needed to talk to...
I would imagine thats what the tranny is, really not familiar with these cars. Definately a three speed.
What is a "Prindle Switch"? This poor console is all in pieces because the previous owner's dog (great dane or something) used to stand on it... and of course thin plastic... so all the parts are in a jumble in the bottom! He also ate all the foam and covers off the seats, but thats another story.
Are you saying this car has two switches that could be the culprit?
Thanks!

Inside the console there should be a square box that is the prindle most times on floor shifted 3 speeds sounds like the dog could have broke it from its mount which would throw off the adjustment. colum shifts usally have the pn switch just under the shift shaft on the tranny ill look today and see if i can find the exacxt for you
