The 4x4 indicator light doesn't come on.
1. It's not the switch on the actuator motor
2. it's not the wire from the actuator motor to the connector behind the grill.
3. The black with grey tracer wire to the ABS moduale isn't grounded when 4x4 is engaged
4. grounding the black/grey tracer wire at the abs moduale doesn't turn the light on.
5. the blub in the instrument panel is new (and tested it lights if power goes to it)
6 the fuse that supplies power to the instrument panel is OK and all the other warning lights work.
Anybody know where the wire from the actuator then to the ABS moduale are connected, before it goes to the blub?

The bulb is powered all the time, and needs a ground to turn on.The ground is supplied from the switch. There should be two wires on the switch, one black, and one dark green\yellow.The black one should be grounded all the time, and the dark green\yellow wire is connected from the 4WD lamp to the switch. When the switch activates,it connects the dark green\yellow wire to ground, completing the circuit, and the lamp should light.

The dark green\yellow wire is also connected to pin 8 of the anti-lock brake module. It branches off to the module at C40,but it doesn't tell me where this connector is.

So I would start over, and begin checking at the switch first.Disconnect the connector, and with the key on,you should have power on the dark green\yellow,and a good ground on the black wire.If you have no power there, then the problem is something from the inst cluster to the switch. If you have power, you should be able to ground that wire, and the light should come on.If the light comes on,then the switch is bad,it's not engaging 4WD to activate the switch,or the ground is bad.

Thanks Chris, mine has a black which is a good ground and a black/with grey tracer, this goes to the ABS unit and to the instrument panel, there's no power to the black/grey, so I''l pull the instument cluster, and start from that end, my ohm meter tells me the switch is closing.
