Well we started to build are pole barn/garage,we made the decisions to do it since it sucks working on stuff in the rain, snow or if it -30deg with wind. It is 32'lX24'wX8'h,all teh cedar poles came from the woods behind my house. We had the trusses made by a company up here, the roof is going to be steel and it is going to have wood siding(like you can see on the house in the one picture). The poles are 4 ft deep and just filled in with ballest and dirt and are pretty solid now, once we have it under roof and it sided we will start pouring section of the floor(floating slab).
Here is some pictures, the pictures show all the poles set except for the corner poles,We set them yesterday(8/19) and put in corner bracing. We need to cut all the poles to the same length(8'6") and put the top plates on for the trusses. I will have more pictures tomorrow(8/21) of the corner braces and the corner poles set.

Looks good, I have to build another one soon. I currently have a 30x40x10, with a 10' overhang on one side. But thinking about a 40x60x16, so I can get the 5th wheel in and equipment.

We had all the poles set last Wed. then it rained and got muddy so we had to wait for it to dry up. We got all the poles notched, the plates on and the trusses sets and secured in one day. Tomorrow we are starting the roofing and should have all 22 sheets on in no time at all.
One more picture..

Are you gonna rough in the walls for insul and drywall? Doing a great job will be nice for you this winter.

I wondered about the cedar posts not being peeled as well, I allways thought they peeled easier when fresh cut.

We end up insulating it and just strapping it,It will be pointless to drywall casue there is going to be movement on the post since we are only 4ft deep with a dirt and ballest around it.

They get easier to peel once they sit some,my neighbor has a bark peeler(the on in the black shirt in the pictures) So he is going to bring that over before I start throwing up the siding.
Here is some pictures oof the steel roof on,took about 5 hours to strap the roof and throw the steel up. We need to put the ridge cap on and some facia on the sides.

And yes the roof is different colors, buut it was way cheaper that way. All the sheet for the roof are either primered, oxidized(galvanized),or cover sheet for the stacks. Those were 80cent a ft V. $2.00 a ft.

Thanks for the comment Jay
When we first set the poles the building looked small and it did not seem to have enough space. We put the top plate son and it seemed bigger, the trusses made it look bigger. Now when you look it form the road or inside the house it looks huge.

I just poured concrete in mine yesterday. That looks like a nice size to work in. It's amazing how fast you can fill them though.

Yous are going to be surprised at how we are doing the floor in there. We are having the guy dump 2 loads of fine gravel(I think 13 yrds) and we are going to mix 8 bags of Portland cement in to it and then spread it out and sprinkle it with water. It will give some what of a hard base for a now and a good base for when we pour the floors next year.
Once the first snow hits the one bay will house my Z24 and it will be there all winter. So I can paint it and do my engine & trans swap.

Interesting, do you mix the portland in with a loader ?
On a side note, in these parts a "pole building" with a gravel floor is taxed a heck of alot cheaper. Most get the concrete floors after the permit is closed out.

We have are New Holland Skidsteer to mix with. We don't need to worry about that. We don't have a permit for the building, We were told you don't need one in my town. In some of the pictures you can see the 2 story addition on the house,We did not need a permit to build that either.

Jeez, we need a permit just to scratch our @sses here. Don't even get me started on my brother's new Future Steel building kit (quanset style) and all the hassles the city has given us.... :(

My permit was issues 4 years ago for a 24' x 28' pole barn. After I started to lay it out and went bigger I asked and they said they would make the changes needed when I finished. Of course, I may never finish:grinz .
Get any more done Korn?

Not lately. We helpe dthe neighbor put a steel roof on his barn(in exchange he helped us put up the trusses and roof). Going to get working on closing in the peeks with the wood and steel that we have and then we need to run down to Lincoln to pick up a pallet of tounge & groove board(V-match).
So nothing more going on yet, Hopefully by this weekend I will have more pictures.

Well i am going to pick up the steel siding for it tomorrow along with the tracks and trolleys for the doors.
We are doing to 12ft wide doors that will slide open one at a time,It will be alot easier when it snows to open the doors to get the truck or skid steer out.

You can see that the back of the building ia a few differents colors, but we are going to paint it one color once the galvanized gets oxidized some. Not a big probablem since no one can see it.
We are making 2 12' doors one will have a "Man" door in it for easier access while working inside. That will be a little bit till we get the tranny out of the truck and get it rebuilt.
