Hi

I'm in the process of piecing together a Fisher 7.5MMI plow together for a back-up truck, I was wondering about the Haldex Elec ? hydraulic pump assy that Northern Tool sells? Are they any good? can they be wired to use any of the Fisher harnesses or controls or will I be better off just to leave the controls that come with it? or should I just try to find a Fisher insta -act pump assy system

Thanks

Jay

Jay,

The Haladex pumps are pretty good. Dont know what your back up truck is so make sure you have room under the hood to mount the unit. I dont know what they come with for controls now but i have a monarch unit the has a box with 2 rocker switches that i havent had any problems with. Just remember that by going with the haladex that you will still need to buy hoses to run out to the front of the truck along with a new lift cylinder to put in place of the fisher unit. Start adding things up first before you spend the $$ on the unit.

cable pump wont work with a MM1, the headgear stays with the blade.

Thanks Guy's for the quick reply

I was hoping to mount the Haldex unit like fisher does with the insta system , Can these units be mounted in the vertical position instead of the horizontal position? I was hoping to wire it up similiar to the Fisher, with a central plug, for pump and lights.

I have a standard lift cylinder currently on the back-up, I belive this MMI came off of an engine driven pump, which did not come with this set up.

So I'm looking for some solid info if I'm going in the right direction, or should I spend the $1K+ for OEM stuff?

Hi

I'm still looking for some advice on these Haldex Pump Assy

Can the be mounted in a verticle position? Can they be controlled by Fisher controls, with some mods?

Thanks

Jay, a Haldex pump unit MUST be mounted horizontal due to the location of the pickup inside the fluid tank. I suppose if you had to mount it vertically you could remove the tank and relocate the pickup to the bottom of the tank.As to using a Fisher controller with it I can't say for sure as I don't have any Fisher wiring diagrams but with a little detective work I think it could be done.

Sidewing uses a Haldex pump unit and I believe Arctic did and still does use one of their units. A touch pad controller from either of these manufacturers would work.

Jay you can mount the power unit with the tank down with no problem at all. You will need to add a filler tube that goes up the side that will allow you to fill the unit completely and reinstall the breather cap correctly.
I use nylon barbed fittings and clear tubing for the filler tube so the fluid level can be easily checked and maintained.
 John...

Thanks for the heads up Guy's

If I go the route with the haldex unit I'll be sure to remove the tank and reconfigure the filler, vent and the pick-up tube!

I'll have to see how the electrical system compares to the Fisher unit, I have one insta- system so I have something to compare to.

If there's anything else to be concerned with please let me know!

Thanks Again
Jay
