I need to know what it does and how it works. Was thinking to add to my truck. What would it do to my fuel mileage? Anything else to watch out for? What damage can it do? What will I gain? Any one have some words of advice?

I personally wouldnt do it. Methanol is highly corrosive first off,if left in the system it will eat everything that is on.You need to refill it quite often if your going to actually use it,since it doesnt hold very much mixture, and the mixture itself ends up costing more than the power gain is worth. It is mostly for big horsepower trucks trying to reduce EGT'Ss(the water part does that),looking for every last HP,trying to keep from melting the valves and pistons. The methanol at the correct mixture will add some power, usually 10-40hp,but it also is known to contribute to blown head gaskets,as it adds a lot more cyl pressure than it makes in power. If your looking for small to moderate gains, stick with a tuner or fueling box such as a TST box,and the normal transfer pump/air filter/exhaust/turbo upgrades.

Thanks for the story , Back on topic i agree with John, Meth is not the way to go stick with a tuner.

what about nitrous?

Another option for extra power in a diesel is propane injection. I imagine it would increase the stress the lower end sees, as the others mods/systems do, and would have the similiar drawbacks because of that.
Here's an article about it:

Can I ask what your trying to accomplish here ?
Cheap pony's would be a chip, and keep it very mild unless you get the gauges to go with it. Another option, and a good one (but pricey ) is mild injector upgrades. The biggest problem with all this stuff is you void your warranty, and it all ends up like Allans snowball tractor. You allways want/need more stuff.
If your looking for a lil more power, plug and play is the cheapest and easiest. Just stay away from Crazy Larry ! :smokin1

I think i figured out why you want this stuff you must have watched Pinks last week and the Bully Dog truck lol remember it blew up on the last pass.
Honestly my only question would be why adding that stuff takes away from a good depenable every day driver. I have chipped many cust trucks but would never do my own i need these things on a daily basis and there Fords has well.
Johnny D has alot of exper with this subject and iam sure he would be honest enough to tell you the conns to modding to much he is capable of fixing the damage and not saying your not but really would have to think about it before you did it because you are risking the warr and for the gains it just wouldnt be worth it.
I wouldnt mind doing something to the 650's Cummins to get rid of some of the lag it has i have been looking at chips for it however probley the biggest and only reason i would consider it is because its a Cummins the 6.0's i wouldn risk a already troubled engine and give for any reason to decline warr.

Heck, Fred, I don't know why you're worried, you're no different than a soccer mom in your need for a reliable truck.

It has to be reliable. I am trying to get the toughest truck at the campground. We have a group of us that camp together. And we often tow together. The truck has been replaced as the daily driver. Its too big. I use it only when I have to tow something or take the camper. My daily driver is a 1/2 ton chevy ss pickup. What wrong with the crazy larry? I have gauges and intake and exhaust. I was thinking about a fuel pump and injectors possibly. Lets face it, this truck is as much of a toy as a truck.

Crazy Larry is a download program for the Bully Dog power pup. It fools the torque management program . You best have a full DTT or comparable tranny with the billet shafts done as well. It will destroy anything less.
There are guys tweekin 1500 ft. #'s of torque + from there 3rd generation trucks with this program stacked with all other upgrades.
You got gauges, air, exhaust, next add fuel :smokin1
The Fass is a good start with a decent chip you should fend off most of these other trucks.
Your tranny will need upgrades though for anything more then "mild". A quality converter and valve body will put alot more power to the ground as well. All it takes is money.
Get in touch with Johny D, like Fred stated He really does know his stuff on these diesel trucks. Im sure he can tell ya what you can get away with, without dropin your tranny out of truck.

Tranny is a six speed. Just a better clutch? Or will it also need upgraded?
Matthew Bowman

Cummins -
Your six speed should be good, but you may need a clutch depending on what you do. I would plan on needing a clutch upgrade, but try it with a load and see if it slips. If you do need to upgrade it, I would look at South Bend clutch, pricey but well worth it. When i did my first mod to my 3500, it would slip the stock clutch in 4th/empty, put a load on it and forget about it. Those 5speeds only had a 12.25" clutch where as your 6 speed has a 13" that holds better.
Like everybody else has already said, start with a fueling box/chip and guages and go from there. The common rails put out a lot with just a box. Find out which boxes are working the best, because many brands are not that great. Once you drive a modded (even mildly) CTD you won't want to go back to stock. You can get alot of info from turbodieselregister.cm
dieseltruckresource.com
Like others have said, get some info from Johny D, he is the one here that knows how to mod a CTD right.

Just a little more than that buddy!!:haha :zoom
I get 20 hp with straight water and can get as much as 70 hp if I get crazy with the Meth:rolling

This is on your Duramax?
Stay away from watermeth IMO. Like John said its mostly for guys lookking for every HP. If you have a LB7 the turbos are plenty beefy. I would also stay away from propane for power reasons.
Get a programer.
Bullydog? On a duramax bullydog has still proven they cant run with the big boys.
If you have a 6speed then you are probably going to need to do a clutch. The Chevy DMF sucks according to the 6 speed guys. Southbend or Craig M(cpmac) on the boards sells stuff. Talk to either Wade at ATS(sells southbend) or Crank it up diesel(they sell both brands)

Phillip- I started this thread before I got rid of my cummins. Now that I have a duramax I have to re-think my plans. In the chevy I have the auto tranny. I am thinking about using the quadzilla programmer. And stacking it with an allison programmer. Also, I am checking into a small dose of Nitrous. I want to use a cleaner flowing intake, but stick with the non-oiled airfiletr. The exhaust is going to be replaced with a 5 inch system. But for now its just a straight piped version.
Ole-Jim
My dad had his toys in the 60's and he had GTO's and trans ams. And he and his brothers put lots of time and energy into making them go faster and perform better. I am merely doing the same thing. I am not sure why you are jealous that I can have a $27,000 dollar truck and you cant. "I dunno" But its mine and I want to go to truck pulls with it. And I want to win. So Since its my money, and my truck, I will do what I want with it. On a side note, I am not complaining about the stock performance of this truck. It does well and it gets over 20mpg. But I am not going to use it as the factory and designers intended.

No greg what?
The old Quad Juice stack is a deccent performer. Especially since you can pick em both up used. It wont run with some of the bigger single tunes but if your on a budget its a deccent set up with lotsa bang for the buck.
Not many no oiled intakes. Pretty much all oiled gauze. The afe progaurd filters about as good as a cotton filter can though. Actually the factory does a pretty good job in perf dept but if you looking for every last HP then AFE or the like aint a bad investment.

Hey Jim, the warranty can be voided because of abuse while plowing as well and this is a form of modification as well. Should we not do this either? In all your years, you never modified any car or truck that you owned?

I ment to say something about his 60ft time, it is very impressive. than you see the truck just doesnt have any more to give at about an 1/8 of a mile. But still a very fast tug boat.
Great job Greg, let me know when you plan on going to ceil again I would like to stop down.

Thats one nice thing about the duramax and I think its a big atvantage, the gearing.....although first is about useless.....its in second way before the 60' mark.....

Yes it's shifting into OD. RPMs at 112 are around 3150.
I did 3 passes that day. Unfortunately wasn't able to get the 12.09 pass on video because the battery died!:headwall
First pass was on #2 only and in my lowest chip setting. Also had a terrible launch

And here is the slip

Second pass was on my next setting up and I hit it with one stage of nitrous. Better launch but was out of the groove and spun through the 60' for a bad 60
