Ok so I'm new to this site but I gotta tell you I think its a great resource. I'm picking up me new truck in a week or so and I have to make a decision as to what I want for a plow. The dealer sells Western right there and I'm pretty sure I'm going with them because the service seems to be great. But the new truck is an ext cab short bed duramax, 2500HD and they say the Pro Plus is going to be too heavy, but will put on a 8 1/2 foot Pro if I want. Do you guys think that will be good? My last truck was a 2500HD crew cab with a 8 foot Fisher. I'm haven't been familiar with Western plows as I'm from the northeast where if its not Fisher you're not cool.

So what do you think ok to go with the Pro or what?

Thanks

First off, welcome to the site! :waving Lots of knowledgeable and professional people here you can rely on for help!

The difference in weight between the 2 is only about 100 lbs. Having plowed with both, I'd go Pro-Plus over Pro Plow any day if you're doing any kind of commercial plowing. As for width, I'll never go less than 9' again, but there again, it depends on what kind of plowing you're doing. With any plow on that truck, make sure you crank the torsion bars up and add timbrens or air bags, and make sure to have plenty of balast. Maybe the dealer will let you pay cash for the install for a Pro-Plus? There's lots of guys running blizzards that tip the scales around 950lbs, versus the 8.5 Pro-Plus at 825lbs, on their 2500HD's, so we know the truck can handle it. It's just a matter of convincing the dealer to install it for you. I have no regrets with my 8.5 Pro Plus, other than the fact that it's not big enough for me. The Pro-Plus is a great plow! You won't be sorry!

What sort of accounts do you plan on servicing with this plow ? Also will they be your own or sub work ?
These questions will help determine what ya should hang on the front of your truck.
Bigger usually is better though :blizzard payup
