I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time. I ususally buy the best parts I can and usually those with a lifetime warranty-- brake pads, brake shoes, water pumps, mufflers, etc.
I have a 1994 Lincoln . I bought NAPA's best ceramic pads for $59 (pretty expensive for pads, huh!) in 1998. In 2001 the rear pads cracked in 2001. NAPA replaced with no problem. Now the pads have cracked again. NAPA warrantied the pads again but told me this would be the last time. The counter man explained their their brake pad supplier does not give lifetime warranties any more. I briefly argued with him explaining that I should be "grandfathered" in and should still be able to get the lifetime warranty for as long as I own the car. No use. Also wrote to NAPA headquarters in Atlanta and have heard zip.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Napa just like other companys have revamped there over the counter warr program SS ceramics and premium ceramics have had a change in warr to over counter sales has a Napa auto care center i still get the lifetime warr on ceramics and parts and labor warr on there CMX line of ceramics.
Many companys including even the Zone have revamped and righly so many companys sell alt's for cars to people who may very well have a bad battery doesnt matter how well the Alt was built any alt put in a postion to stay full fielded is gonna fail .
Brakes are another good example of a job that can go wrong even repair shops who insist on doing a incorrect brake job insist on blaming parts. Caliper pins siezed no lube on moving parts incorrect rotor resurfacing can all lead to early failure of brake pads. These changes will only cont to get worse has many of the big parts companys are taking big losses so to failed parts do to installer error.
Iam not saying you installed the pads incorrectly please dont take it that way just trying to explain why parts companys are making the changes they are.

revamping or not, pads sold with a lifetime warranty should be just that.Im sure if they didnt have a lifetime waranty ,he would have bought someone elses pads that did.Now after the fact they want to pull back the warranty coverage. In this case he should be grandfathered.I always thought the pads were warrantied against defects in material or workmanship, not necessarily normal wear.
Even a cheap, not so good lawyer could argue that case. you bought it with a lifetime warranty from NAPA, not the manufacturer and thats what you are supposed to get.
Your warranty is with Napa, Noth the manufacturer so NAPA should legally be required to eat the cost of any of the pads that come back. Maybe they will pay better attention to who they get for manufacturers after they eat some loss.
I am not bashing NAPA at all. I am a very good customer at NAPA even though I could save money at the Zone or Advanced.

Let me clarify something iam not standing up for Napa either i set in on meetings in Detriot and just gave the response direct from the horses mouth. I agree has well in most cases . The whole Auto care program was to help a shop with national exposure and also other shop related buss much like a Co-op . I have been smoked many times on the warr issues and labor reinbus issues.
When a cust that has a peace of mind warr breaks down in my area they call a 800 number at which time i get a dispatch to go help i dont have to but whats screwed up for me is there is 2 other Auto care centers here that dont offer towing or roadside emerg work and dont keep weekend hours so guess who gets called . Most times it truly is out of the goodness of my heart that i run these calls has i may not get paid from Napa for 30-90 days so i have stuck to helping people to help the Napa name if things cont to change i may find it ness to dump the program. Right now the only true kick back i see on a reg basis is a i get 4 percent a QTR on purchases which can be a nice check, however running the roads on weekends for nothing wont last long.
Like i have said to Napa in Detroit many times there solgan we keep america running is not gonna cont on my dime.
Napa is going down a bad road has i have pointed out many times 1 they probley wont sponsor a nextel car next year there depature from DEI was stuipd , 2 dumping Alan Jackson has a national spokesman was really stuipd. Honestly this year i have gave away my suite tickets to Mis races i dont care to set up there in waltrips camp. The year Napa had AJ for a spoksmen was one of my better years got to meet him in person in auburn hills at a concert keep in mind Alan Jackson's dad ran a big repair shop in Newton GA and also Alan Jackson probley has more coll cars than Jay leno the response i got in a meeting was we just couldnt afford him. ya right.

spoke to my napa store manager . he said as long as you have the original receipt. they are still covered . i wonder if they dont wont cover them because there not worn out but crack from being over heated or something causing them to get overheated. i think NAPA. is loosing touch with their customer base . why do i want allan jackson selling parts for napa . because he owns a bunch of cars i rather have somebody thatraces or builds car sell their product and not OCC what a joke. know what i dont need some guy telling me to buy their product. save the money and give my techs more free stuff.and discount the parts.

Isnt doesnt matter to me either but when it comes to advertising people relate more to a person outside the buss. AJ did just that i sold more crap than you could image the year we were given 6 sets of tickets to give away to his concert . Women could give a crap less about racing for the most part seeing a celb is a sales tactic that worked look at sales that summer.
John are you a center or do you just use there parts? i too belive there loosing touch i have tickets for the MIS race that i cant even give away this weekend with waltrip going TOY next year Napas sponsorship in nextel is not going far.

Sorry reread your post again BECOME a autocare center if you want kickback 4percent a qtr on parts purchases again iam not defending Napa but getting a check every qtr for 2-3k you can buy your techs stuff or make up your own give aways.
Has far has OCC is conerned there's one guy that doesnt become a key player in the grand scheme of there advertising but should because for most of us he is why we even watch the show Vinny. Again Vinny is a real person to most viewers of the show and people can relate to that.
