I am looking for a red light that will mount flush to a metal surface. I have found the 6" oval ones.but was owndering if there is any that are not as wide and a little more longer. This is going to sound funny for what i am using it fo but In the picture below I want to move the 3rd brake light to the back of the trunk so it is a smooth trunk and the only way I have figured to do that with out going into extensive work is to get a graomment mount light.

Thanks in advance

You could use an oval LED or Incandescent light like used on dump trucks, trailers, etc. but I think it would look silly. I would look for a custom 3rd brake light insert, like these (http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/leds_plus.html) or these (http://www.commandelectronics.com/third-brake-lights.html). It would require some metal work and paint, but so would removing the existing 3rd brake light. Does the one that's on it really bother you that much? Sounds like a lot of work for little gain...

Most of the manufacturers make some sort of halogen lamp that will fit your bill. Go to whelen.com or to galls.com and hunt through the flush mount options.
Whelen has a grommet mount lamp that should be about that size. Another trick might be to retrofit the rear lamp from one of the cadillac stable which use the row of LED lights.
For those unfamiliar with the cavalier, the third lamp is actually fairly simple to remove, only a couple of holes, simple to either cap the holes or putty over them.

One of the gains in taking t5he light off is it looking better and also it is out of the way for when i throw SS rally stripes on it when I repaint it. I will check out those sites thanks...
The size I am looking for is 1" wide and 5" long..
pbeering, your right it is 4 bolts hole and a bigger hole which I am welding a patch in and then filling over...

I was talking with a a State Trooper and he asked a inspection station. And the inspecter said he can inspect it with out it there since there is no law in Maine stateing that the owner of the vehical cant remove it, it just says that after 1986 all cars needed to come from factory with one. Then he was like but if some one rear ends you then they could sue saying the car was made after 1986 and the reason they hit you was becuase their was no third brake light..
I would be removing the 3rd brake light any way if I would put a Z24 spoiler on it, I dont want the spoiler or the light since it makes the car look alot sleeker with them off of it. So I figured I would recess it into the trunk..
