Gentlemen, I'm trying to figure out how to use my existing plow (only 1.5 years old) on a new 2006 Super Duty I intend to buy within the next couple months. The existing plow is on the 2000 F350 and it's the relay harness set up. I understand that the truck side mount is different, and the dealer tells me I need to get the isolation module set-up. They're giving me a price of around $1500 installed and out the door. I have no problem installing these things myself to save some money, but my question is if the isolation module is really necessary. Are the lights on the H13 bulbs on the new truck ground switched or hot switched like the older trucks. If they're hot switched, why couldn't the old relay harness be used on the new truck? Even if they're incompatible for whatever reason, does anyone see a problem with using a separate switch in the cab to control the plow lights? Just trying to save some money here... In an ideal world, I'll find someone to buy the current plow and just put a new one on the new truck, but for now I'm planning on using the same plow for a couple years since it's been so good to me :cash.

The headlights on your new ford should be ground switched so using the old harness would be some work (Dodges ended up with 4 relays with diodes when they first switched to ground switching). You could easily wire the plow lights into a switch into the cab, just delete the cross harness, find the orange (low beam out to plow) and red (hi beam out to plow) wires in the main plow control harness along with taping into the trucks marker and turn signal wires and finding those in the plow harness (marker in the plow harness is brown, left turn is grey, right turn is purple). Just need a double throw switch along with a relay in the power feed line with the activation leg of the relay to a keyed hot.

Crash, thanks for the reply!:D I ended up finding a really nice low mileage used '05 that had everything I wanted. Just couldn't bring myself to spend over 15 grand more for 1 year newer and a few less miles. But, as far as I know, the 05 and 06 are the same. I'll probably end up just putting in a switch to control the headlights, as I see no "danger" in doing it this way as the dealer was implying for the reasoning behind the iso module. Unless of course I can sell the current set-up locally (1st option) and just buy a whole new plow. Then of course the posts will start coming about buying a blizzy instead of a Western :geez. I'll try to get some pictures posted of the new rig tomorrow...
