So I received a call from my g/f the other morning; she was definetly frantic and upset because she couldnt get her car off the patch of ice outside her building and she was going to be late for an appointment. So I am 200+ miles away and try leading her through the drive real slow dont hit the gas-thinking she is only on top of a patch of ice and is spinning her wheels... Well low and behold I received these pictures later. She finally got out and the city was real cool about it but this is some crazy ice....:help

The city was real cool about it and offered to send a truck over with some salt, even though the buildup was from a residence which leaked water all night, she got out though. One of the craziest things I have ever seen... pimp

How about a jackhammer?
That's some serious ice, I was guessing a water main break.

When I was 8 or 9, all the kids had those saucers for riding down snow covered hills. I had 3 or 4 Flexible Flyers that went nowhere compared to them. One of my friends up the street, had a Flexible Flyer too, and had a gully in between his house and the next door neighbor. One day it was warm enough for water to run down the gully from the woods above, and into the gutter to the bottom of the hill (about 100yds, nice hill). That night it froze. It was only out about 2' from the curb. We rode our sleds on it, but it was hard to stay on the ice. One of the older kids told him to run his hose for a while to make ice, so he did. It looked a lot like the above pics, except on a hill. Well his parents grounded him for a few days, but the rest of us rode down the hill on that ice for a week. It was great. The ice ran out at the catch basin at the bottom, and we used to see who could go the farthest past it across the asphalt leaving a trail of sparks at the end of the run. :D
Finally after a week or so, the neighbors complained about the thick ice at the end of the driveways, and the town sent a loader and a salt truck. That ended our fun :(
