I am going to be replacing tires pretty soon. Tread pattern is going to be something of a mud terrain (I'll be running special snow tires in the winter). I am hoping to get something 12.5 inches wide on them. I am looking at maybe some 285/75R16 BFG Mud Terrains, or similar. What is the widest you can go on the factory 16 x 6.5 steelies? Thanks

I have seen guys running 305's on them,but i wouldn't
285 is about the max, without sacrificing tread wear and handling.
I like runnig big tires on narrow rims, gives you more rim protection if your running expensive rims.
I run 285's on 16X7 Aloca's in the summer.
