The solenoid on my 7.5 Western Pro Plow stuck on while plowing today. I didn't realize it until everything was really hot. I unplugged it and waited for everything to cool down before plugging it back in to lower the blade.
I'm going to replace the solenoid tommorrow. Hopefully I didn't cook the motor.
Is there anything I should check if it still works, such as fluid, etc.

It's going to be hard to tell if the motor suffered damage without taking it apart and inspecting the components.
Genuine Western motors are pretty forgiving.
You can do a smell test , if it has a burnt smell at least you will know it got hot enough to cook the insulation a bit.
That doesn't mean the motor is shot, high current draw, noise or slow labored operation would be more of an indicator of damage.
Also check the cables to be sure that the outter jacket hasn't been damaged from possibly getting hot.
 John...

Thanks for the reply.
I threw a new solenoid in, and everything seems to be in working order. My brother (who is a forklift mechanic) took the top off the casing and pronounced everything OK.
At least now I know how to fix this problem if it arises again. Live and learn.
