Forgive me for my ignorance...I was just going through some info on my Freightliner and came across the Engine Operator's Guide. In reading through it, I realized that the MBE900 motor that's in the truck, is actually manufactured by Detroit Diesel. I had been under the impression that Mercede's was the mfr of the motor, thus the MBE designation. I'm happily surprised that this is a DT motor. Can anyone tell me the DT designation equivalent, eg DT466, etc. ?

John,
I'm not sure on the MBE designation to Detroit application. That's new to me. I thought that they were separate entities.
I do believe that the "DT" initial is an International Harvester description pertaining to their diesel engines which were manufactured by Detroit diesel. At least this is what I have heard in the past. I could be wrong.
If indeed it is a Detroit, I believe that the block would be the same as a "DT" but possibly labled differently due to the truck being a Freightliner application.
I hope this doesn't add to any confusion.

John,
Evedently they are related. New to me.
The Detroit Diesel site states the Mercedes-Benz name along with others as part of the Detroit Diesel selection of engines.

Thanks Jake. I always thought like you mentioned above, that DT was an International designation only, and perhaps it is. Perhaps this is why MB has the MBE designation for the DDC motor.
My Enginer Operator's Guide says Detroit Diesel MBE900 at the top cover and at the bottom of the cover it says Mercedes-Benz Power.
