My lightbar (FS JetSonic) is 48". My truck roof width is 56-57". I am using the gutter mounts. The FS price book mentions an Extension Bracket. My dealer says there is none, and to try to move the feet out as far as possible and get a long bolt. This sound right?
Also, I was thinking of removing the bar in the off season. How would you run the power cord? Just close a door on it?
:huh
Thanks...

On your S.D. there should be two vent holes on the backwall behind the seats. They are used for wiring utility bodies. I use them for running lightbar and strobe wiring. All you need to do is remove seat top that is clipped to backwall and the holes are right there. The holes are between cab backwall and bed front wall.

Long bolt will do the trick. Buy a stainless one and put some anti-sieze on the threads if you plan to pull it off during the off-season.
A trailer hitch plug (or similarly heavy connector) will make the wiring part work well. Used to do this in the old days before strobes and LED's. Lightbar will add considerable drag in the off-season and will also get buggy.

Thanks guys. One thing though, if I bring the cord back to go into the vents, won't the cord scratch the paint? I have a crew cab and was gonna put the light right about mid cab.

Center the bar, being sure you level it so you are warning both front and rear.
Run the cable off the bar and along the mount. Enter the truck between the doors, on the front side of the rear door. Get some colored electric tape that matches the truck and wrap the cable to protect both it and the paint. You can then route it inside the interior pillar trim piece. I'd put the connector inside to keep it dry. Remember the dielectric grease.
Wax the bar once it's on to help keep it clean.
Remember that this bar draws a lot of juice and there is an issue with Ford charging systems.

I'm thinking of mounting a bar on a Backrack.
