Im a fanatic about keeping all of my equipment clean. Usally i use "Gunk" brand stuff. http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg.com/I/rodi_1877_7743467

The last 3 cans I bought have orange caps but dont smell orange1eye2 This stuff has always been pretty good at what ive needed it to do. Cleaned the grass off of my trimmer gaurds great last night. Made them look brand new. However.. Im sure theres a better product cheaper that i can buy and refill a quirt bottle with myself to save a few $$.

Most of the time im cleaning grass off of stuff so thats what i mostly use this stuff for.

Degreasers are tough,as there are so many different kinds.

The can you have pictured above is a petroleum based product, and it leaves a shiny residue. It's good for light cleaning of engines, while leaving a protective film behind.Be sure to wipe the hoses off afterwards,as it will affect rubber.

I've had good luck with the bulk store brand (Home depot) degreasers they sell in the cleaning dept.Cheap, and it works. No residue, and it really brightens up metal and aluminum. It will damage some painted or anodized surfaces,so you must be careful.Castrol's SuperClean is similar, but way more expensive.

Simple Green is my favorite, but it's hard to find and expensive here.It works great on everything.

I will second Simple Green. Works great on the grass stuff, spray a little on, let it sit, then use a scrub brush, or pressure washer. Also works good on cleaning the motors.

Swish HD 40 and HD 41. Can mix it up to 40:1. Straight up for the tough stuff. Works great and doesn't smell horrific. Becareful with HD 41 it'll eat stuff. Simple Green is always good.

Orange Blast (great for wheels and tires)

Ardex Cleaner/Degreaser (yellow substance and it takes anything off, great for engines, wheels, tires)

Hydro Force by CRC comes in various types within their model line and works great.......

At work we use a lot of degreasers and flashpoint is a major issue. Sadly we use wayyyyyy too much trichloroethylene still :(

Pretty nasty stuff but man does it get the degreasing job done!!!

i like simple green and spray nine, castrol super clean is off the market from what i have been told, guess there was something in it that was outlawed in the states, not 100 percent if that is true but one of my parts suppliers told me that

We use orange oil. Works great. Pretty sure it is from Chemsearch. We have a weaker one, that is from State Chemical.

The Chemsearch can be diluted up to 100:1. We use it straight! If you let it sit, the stuff will dissolve oil based paint, polyurethane, and varnish, no problem. I wouldn't even test it on latex.

We also have industrial Simple Green (stronger and no color), but the orange works the best.

Yes we do. We use A LOT of their products. It will cost you a fortune for the orange degreaser, but 55 glallons lasts a loooooooong time. See if you can get a sample.

We use some stuff called Turbo-lene that we buy from a local guy. We buy it in a 55 gl drum and use it in the steam cleaner, to clean white walls, just spray it on direct out of a squirt bottle too it works great. On the directions it lists so many uses it's not even funny. They sell to the carwashes they are BASS Cleaning products.

The best degreaser Ive ever used is Citrol,it literally melts grease away, and it isnt harmful,in fact if you wash your hands with it,it will clean the grease out of the tiny cracks in your hands to the point where 2 minutes with it and scrub brush ,and it will look like you havent worked in a few weeks.Even a mechanics hands will clean right up. http://www.cincy-racing.com/schaeffer/products_citrol.htm.
The best all purpose cleaner ive used is RAM http://www.ramcleaner.com/, between these 2 I am very happy, its all ive used for quite a while.

Por 15 makes one called marine clean. Concentrate product. I imagine its enviromently friendly if its called Marine clean. But I think you still need to wear gloves with it or you hands might get chapped or maybe it was the metal ready spray that did that to my hands. :beatsme

Superclean always works good. I put it in a spray bottle with 50% water. for most uses. I just picked up a jug today at Meijer.

I don't know about as a degreaser, but for an all purpose cleaner i like the big ol cheap jug of purple power, seems to clean just about anything.... Who here degreases the engine on their truck? Just curious....

Jay are you sure trichloroethylene is even legal to use in our state anymore? I knew a clutch brake reliner that got fined 5 years ago for just having it...they never caught him using it. Just wondering as i know its one chemical if used on your site a bank wont give a buyer a dime to buy the property when they do and impact study....

Nope dont degrease any motors on stuff that plows

i dont degrease my engines. As long as they are not leakers, wich mine arent, there shouldnt be a need to degrease them.Just a simple powerwash of the bay itself to keep things clean once a season, and remove the upper rad shrouds on all trucks, and keep the condensor, radiator clean of leaves, debris, bugs once a yr.If i need to do any heavy degreasing i will take it to the blue beacon truck wash or car wash, where they have the proper way to handle the wastewater.

Ecurb,

We are regulated. The amount of yearly useage must be fully documented. Over useages are fined also!!!...

I predict that within the next 5 years it will be completely banned from useage in its natural state... We have been working hard on a plan to change over from Trichlor to a less hazardous degreaser but the problem is there really isn't much else out there that meets flashpoints as well as cleans as well as Trichlor.......

Man Jay i hope if your gonna have kids later in life you stay far away from that stuff. LOL Remember using it as a kid. Bare hands Yikes. Doc told me how bad it was and that was in the late 60's LOL Simple green works pretty well. If you ever have to flush a oil burner rad thats had fuel in it ....Lestol works good and dont hurt anything. We used it in the cummins shop i worked in all the time.

Dupont's Final Clean it is used before you paint to wipe down the vehicle but it is an excellent de-greaser but wear rubber gloves.

I use Purple Power also. Cheap and does the job on everything. From engines to floors to grease pants in the washer. Oh ya cleans rags good, I put the rags in a 5 gallon pal mix a 50-50 concentrate and let soak, a day later a late night trip to the local laundry mat more purple stuff and presto clean rags. P.S. don't get caught the laundry lady blows a gasket, but better there machine an mine.

Green Clean here. We even use it on our form panels as a form release in sensetive areas.

Green Clean in the steam cleaner is awesome too .It will clean any machine. Our Allen Engineering ride-on-power trowels are the hardest things we have here to clean . We have only one problem , dont use it on any aluminium , one of our pump operators did on the wheels of the Schwing and the boss went ballistic when he saw what happened......Broker wants everything to look like his hobby shop .1eye2
