I think Chris did a great job on the install. He really took the time to do the install just the way I liked it. I dont think any other plow installer would have taken the time to do this install.

Now for the action shots. I did some testing in a parking lot during the day today and some the night before but didn’t have the camera. My Fisher plow's better forward then the back plow does in the back but I didn’t have the truck in 4wd and I didn’t have full down pressure on. I don’t think you can move the truck with full pressure on as the back plow sort of curls under itself.

Dave, Daniels looks good. Looks like you were able to keep the tailgate on. Hope it works out well for you.

Try it without the tailgate . It will give you a better perspective .

Thanks Matt for finding the plow for me. From looking at my time sheets it's saved me 10mins per drive. Needs some new paint this summer. Yellow with a flourescent coating. I think it could 8' instead of 7'6" I'm finding it hard to get close to the edges of the drive's and walls. Maybe I need to pratice more.
The tailgate will have to come off in bigger storms and I'll get one of them mesh ones so I can load and unload salt and the 2 cycle toro snowblower.
It contains the snow pretty well not much trail off but this was a light storm. Time will tell.

To make it wider you mean?
I like the snowman plow how it flares out to the side but I would think you loose more snow with that design? The snowman looks like it comes up really high like a bat wing almost.
If you look at one of my pics the guy i sub for his dad has a snowman plow his dad likes it as well.

Yes to make it wider . You could probably fab some wings . Snowman wants $ 285 for 18" wings It does come up high , it would hit the tailgate

Dave - We can easily make it wider :D
If your happy with the adjustment of it,drop by,and I'll tack things into place so they don't move.If not,we can still adjust it to make it work better.
I forgot to take a few pics while you were there. How about posting a few of the pump bracket I made and where it's mounted,in case anyone out there would like to do the same thing.
You also don't need full downpressure on all the time.Just keep the blade on the ground, and the edge will last a lot longer, and it will be easier on the truck\plow.

Will do Chris.
I'll wait til the rain stops for pictures. I want to run the blade throu another storm to see how it does and then we will tack it in place. It worked great on the type of driveways you warned me about. The ones witht he drop off past the sidewalk.
We will do surgery on the blade when you have the new plasma cutter if thats what you need to cut it? I thought of makeing the blade 8' but adjustable to 8'6" maybe? The one side is a little bent so we will see what we can do.
I dont think the blade can scrape any better then it does now with it just touching the ground so I wont use full presure. I guess I need to monitor it because sometimes it does get hung up so I need to play with the controls as I decend down the drive so it doesnt gouge.
It's worth the drive to Brampton.
Dave.

Sorry his truck was in the way. *L* I know its not good to show that. The picture really doesnt do it justice. The Daniels is good plow has worked all of 1 strom.
Joe, I'll trade you or just buy yours for $300 hoepfully you get more then that on it.
Dave.
Chris,
Is that the pump on the back bumper?

Yes,that's the pump unit.
It is supposed to be mounted underhood, but where do you find the room these days without impeding access to other components. You also have to run long hydro lines to the back, and use quick disconnects. This affects flow, and slows down the plow.It also introduces air, water and contaminants every time you disconnect.
Before you make any comments that the pump is crooked, let me say it's supposed to be mounted that way,so it doesn't suck air.
I made a small bracket to mount the power unit right up near the bumper,in the center. It's well protected, and use short permanently connected lines.0 Ga welding cable was used with an Anderson battery quick disconnect to feed the motor. One half of the connector is mounted to the rear bumper,so it stays put.I removed the cheesy Monarch pump mounted solenoid, and used a Western\Fisher style solenoid under the hood. This is much more reliable, and the battery cables are not live all the time like the stock setup.Only time they are hot,is when you use the plow.Much safer.
The other difficult part with this installation is mounting the tabs for the draw arms.It is meant to be installed to a standard hitch with a flat tube across the back, with the mounting ears welded to the hitch. On a GM,they use a round tube style hitch, that tapers forward on either end. It's too far forward to mount the ears, with out extending the draw arms. While this could be made to work,it would make mounting difficult,as the pins are further up under the truck, and it would throw off the geometry of the plow. The plow pivots around this axis when it's lifted, and must be set up correctly in relation to the lift arm axis.
The solution was to weld section of plate to the bottom of the bumper on each side,to strengthen it,and weld the ears on there. The bumper is an intregal part of the hitch,so it's plenty strong enough to support the extra weight.I made the mounting ears a little on the thin side,so if someone runs into the plow,or he catches something while plowing,it will fail.Gotta have a built in failure point. If not,a good hit would bend the bumper, the hitch, possibly the frame, and evey the back of the box if contacted by the bumper. That kind of damage is expensive.Welding on a couple of new ears is easy.
Hopefully Dave can get some more pics up,like some better detail of the pump mounting, and the underhood tandem solenoid mounting for both plows.
Cool!
The way Daniels does it is just wrong....
I'd rather have the pump back on the unit...
I bet wires cheaper than Hydrolic cable too.

Daniels actually sells a kit,to mount the pump on the plow.It is mounted much differently though,I think my way is much cleaner, and much cheaper.Dave plans on making his own cover for it.
Welding cable isn't cheap,it's actually more expensive than some hydraulic hose.He got a bunch of cable with the plow,so we made use of it to keep costs down to a minimum.
Here are a few pics of the Daniels kit.

Chris, the reason for all the excess cable was that the previous owner had mounted the pump in a cross over tool box behind the cab. Kept everything protected and out of the way. I prefer your install as everything is easily removed when the plow is taken off.

Yes,Dave mentioned how the old one was installed. We had contemplated that idea, but he didn't want to lose the bed space, and have all that stuff in the back.It is much easier when it all comes off with the plow.
Any luck getting those plugs out ?

Bed space certainly is a premium. My crossover box came out as well, needed the room.
No luck with the plugs yet, maybe this weekend. I want to tackle it 1. when I have some time to really get at it and 2. when the forecast is nice incase the truck is down for a while.
