I just put a7 1/2' Boss super duty trip edge on my 2004 Z71. It has a 5.3 v8.

I can't turn the wheel unless I start moving first. Plus the battery gauge drops very low sometimes but bounces back quickly.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions ? I did have the torsions tightened and timbrens installed.

What front tire pressure are you running ? If it's low,it will be difficult to turn.

Are you running wide tires ? They also make it difficult to turn.

The voltmeter will dip when the plow is operated due to the large amperage draw.If it dives down to much,it may be worth checking out the battery and charging system.A second battery will help too.

If your new plow doesnt have synthetic fluid, changing it over will reduce the amperage draw a lot when the plow is cold, and speed it up a little, not that the Boss needs to be any faster, but the amp draw would help.Adding a 2nd battery will help tremedously with the voltage drop,as you will have twice the reserve, and amperage storage to draw from,so you will barley notice lights dimming and voltage drops will be 1/2 what they are now.

Thank you for your responses. I am running 50 psi in factory tires. I did add some ballast, 730 lbs recomended, being in masonry construction I got 3 225 lb concrete flat round as the supplier called them. They were 12.50 each and that seemed to help. I have been plowing for 31 years, but just made some big changes. I went from Ford F250s and 350s with Fisher Plows to the GMC Z71 with the boss. I had my last Truck for 11 years, so there have been a few advancements Made that I will have to get used to. Thanks again
