I have a mini edge that I wired the 12 volts going to the power supply to a switch. Now Whelens website does not provide a whole lot of info in the install instructions on this. The question that I have is can I wire the 12 volts for the power supply directly to the battery with the strobe patterns being switched.

That's unusual they have detailed instruction when i looked up my light bar.I would think that you would want to fuse everything and not run stright to power. There should be another wire that you add power to for your switching but you will need a momentery switch for that and there must be a high/low wire to probably vilote.

As Cat320 said, your circuit should definitely be protected by a fuse (or circuit breaker).

I am assuming you are referring to selectable flash patterns (single, double or quad). Usually you install the bar and then program the pattern you want and your done. You don't need the programming feed once you are set up as the pattern will stay "selected". The only way you would need to have a permanent feed for the patterns is if you want to be able to switch patterns on the fly. I am not sure why anyone would want to do that and I suspect that frequent switching between patterns would be hard on the strobe pack.

The website has good instructions for the full size bars but not the minis. Yes the power is connected to a breaker and not directly to the battery.

Well I just had a thought if you could find a full size bar that matchess the mini as far as lights and it should be the same except just longer. If not I would call whelen direct I did with questions and they where happy to tell me what I needed to know.

You need to run a switch for the direct power and another for the flash pattern. I usually just pick the pattern and hook them all together. That is if your mini has a SL6 power supply. (brown and white together is the best for attention getting) .:blizzard

if you put power to brown and white it will give you a pattern that alternates between single flash and comet. If I remember correctly just white gives you just single flash. Brown only is double flash.
