Just found this on another site..
6.6 L Duramax future and possible V-6?

when Petersen's 4 Wheel & Off-Road was invited by GM to take a look at the new 6.6 L Duramax Diesel they saw the new engine plus something peculiar to the side.
As the article reads in the January 06' issue a 99 or 00 Silverado 2500 non HD was spotted off to the side. Upon further inspection of the vehicle they got curious and decided to pop the hood. A manual that read "4.9L Isuzu V-6" was found in the seat.
The article goes on to say that they think a motor like this might find its way into the new Tahoe and could produce 270hp and 475lb-ft of torque as early as MY 2009.
As mentioned they were shown the new 6.6 L with 360hp and 650lb ft of torque and a new Allison 6 speed transmission to go with it. They write that they found the Allison 1000 was being prepped to handle 400hp and 800lb ft of torque by MY 2010. They also speculate the possibility of an exhaust brake and a larger turbocharger or even a dual turbocharger set up. Reasoning for the possible turbo upgrade is the stronger block, lower compression, and thicker cylinder-head fire deck all seem to point toward more boost in the future.
