Angelos' Supplies Hyd. Oil?

I got a price quote for Fisher/Western Hyd oil this morning: $7.40/qt. I thought that was a little steep, especially when I saw that Angelo's had the blue aircraft quality fluid for $9.99/gal.

Is the stuff from Angelo's no good? Should I spend the extra $$ for the Western/Fisher stuff, or is there something else that is just as good, that won't cost me my right arm?

In my experiences, Angelos blue oil is fine. This is my 2nd season using it, and have not had any problems at all. I know others will disagree with me, but I think you are paying a premium price for a label with the other brands mentioned. In my Western manual, they recommend ATF, so I can only presume they are selling over priced ATF....

I used ATF last year, after that I didn't mind paying the extra $$ for the Western stuff.

If you get temps around -20c, don't use ATF.

WESTERN® High Performance Fluid to -25°F (-32°C)

Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) DEXRON® III to -10°F (-23°C)

Texaco 1537 Aircraft Hydraulic Fluid for temperatures below -25°F (-32°C)

I have had good luck with the blue stuff from j-thomas. The angelos stuff is the same. It is good stuff at a cheap price.

I'd just be careful if you're in a climate with sustained temps below zero. Remember, "you get what you pay for".
