Caterpiller or ASV tracked skids loaders. And a blizzard 810 or 8611 Skids steer plow.

There's a very similar thead in this forum asking the same question where you'll find a number of opinions. My vote is for Cat too.

I think with that question there will be alot of anwsers.I guess it all depends on the one that you like to run your will get bobcat guys that say that they are best and the same with cat, gehl, deer asv,and so on I think it's not brand but spec for spec as to what you will need to use it for.

I really like my mustang, but windows and heat would be nice.
Case for me next. Dealer real close and the owner is a friend of mine.

Well I think if the dealer here was not that much of an ass I might of looked at them but I think i said this some where that the bobcat dealer is like 10 min vs where i got my Gehl about 45 min so you can see dealer's have alot to do with it I got mine at a small palce easy to deal with. our closest cat dealer is about the same 45-1 hour away from me ,now case just moved in next door tome in the next town which is great for me with my 580 for parts and repair .

I know that is a question that has no right or wrong answer.I had just put down the equipment trader when I asked. Its very hard to pick the one that is best. In my price range there are many makes and models available.I am trying to stay under 20k. I dont know if I should spend more $ for new?

I got my machine with heated cab 1600lb lift for under $20K alittle more now but not much more and if you can use a machine that size it was brand new. some of these guys are paying big money for bigger machines.

I think if you have the money for it or have to work to keep it making money for you I would go new. but don't forget your will be spending more money for a trailer to unless you have a hooklift type of truck to haul it.

I own a John Deere 250 skid steer and its flawless. More power than similarly sized machines.

I own a John deere 250 and its flawless. Great power to size ratio and its great for snow removal.
Why is it nobody like Case? I'm bais to them growing up with the brand and the hand controls so I love that feature. This past summer tried out a buddies brand new bobcat 753 I hated it. not nearly the power of the 1840's I'm used to operating, this Bobcat going at full tilt barely had enough nuts to lift a bucket of dirt cutting into a yard...very disappionted with that power aspect. and the foot controls....still never got comfortable with it. Trying to be smooth with the bucket/arms and when I'd get into rough terrain and get a lil bouncey/jerkey the bucket was doing all sorts of glitching around.
Maybe for snow operation the bobcats work good, but after running one this summer in the feild I was not impressed one bit...I'll stick to the 1840's or 1830 series Case skid's":)

Case makes some fine equipment. I just like bobcat when it comes to SSL, mostly for dealer support, and I find the hand controls very responsive. I never use foot controls anymore. I can do a lot of tricks with mine. Many people find the Bobcats can be a little bouncy, and hard to get used to.
The 753 you played with was not brand new, unless it was the last of the 753 in 2003. The 753 is the lower end in lift capacity, where your 1840 is a little above that class.
My S175 is a step above the 753 class, and it can cut very well.
I almost rented a dozer for this job, but really wanted to keep my profit margin higher.

LOL, that was a heck of a project you took with your skid:) But just shows equipment in the right hands can do thing nobody thought possible. I gave up digging in tile in my front yard with a buddies newer 753 cuz it just would not cut in like I wanted (am used to;) ) and the foot controls were throwing me for a loop...neighbors musta thought I was drunk:) so called in a buddy that uses the bobcats daily and even he does'nt like the power of the bobcats....he got to run a 1840 the week prior and said he fell in love.
But the buddy I borrowed the 753 from laid some new gravel in an alley for me after a project that turned the alley to muck and watching him run the thing showed it's all in what your used to...made it look soo easy LOL.
20yrs running skids with hand controls and trying to switch to feet operated is tough!!!

If not impossible :)
Now days I look drunk when I try to revert back to foot control.
