Trying to figure out best way to secure plow when not on truck. I can't rememeber seeing a SnoWay around here, so the chance of someone with a mount is slim, but I would feel safer with something on it.

I was looking to build something for my Fisher plow last year. You can look in the Fisher Forum for the idea. But it comes down to if someone wants your plow badly they will get it. What’s to stop 5 or 6 guys from lifting on a truck and taking off with it?
Chain it down? Bolt cutters. Maybe if you chain a pit bull to the plow that might deter someone. How about a landmine and make a way so you can disable it?
I watched something on T.V. not long ago how construction equipment is being stolen Loaders Excavators you name it. If they can get away with stealing that what makes you think someone will care about your plow?

I know if they want it, they will get it. I just don't want to make it too easy. I saw the write-up for the Blizzard lock. Nice, but I don't have the skills to do that. Anyway, my plow set-up is different. I don't have the pin holes like that. Guess I will just stare at it until something comes to me. :grinz

However you make it, make it so the locks are not accessable with bolt cutters, so therefore 5 guys will need to lift it if its wanted badly.
I saw that blizzard lock it was made from some heavy duty angle iron or something.

Hi Guys
I didn't worry about last year when I had my old truck with a Curtis, never saw one around here. I now have a 05 Chevy with a 8'6'' Boss and evreybody down here has a Boss. I talked to my insurance guy the other day and was going to add a marine policy to cover the blade and spreader. I was told that I have a very good homeowners policy and they will cover up to 5000.00 on buisness equipment that is stored at my home.
That would cover the cost of the plow, and the salt spreader is always inside the garage when not on the truck. I also carry commercial truck ins with a rider to cover the plow and spreader when it is on the truck. I now sleep better at night not worrying someone is going to pull into my driveway and steal the new Boss. I guess what I'm saying is call your ins man and get it covered.
Regards Mike
